The Beginnings of that Freedome

I've spent the past two days at The House Of Parliament with 9 artist from around the uk, to launch "The Beginnings of that Freedome" a banner exhibition to commemorate significant historic anniversaries in 2015.

In 2015 the Houses of Parliament will be commemorating two important anniversaries: 750 years since the Simon de Montfort parliament (20 January 1265) and 800 years since the sealing of Magna Carta (15 June 1215). Launching on Tuesday 20 January 2015 – exactly 750 years since Simon de Montfort summoned his Hilary Parliament to meet in the Chapter House of Westminster Abbey in 1265 – ‘The Beginnings of that Freedome’ exhibition commemorates 800 years of constitutional history.

Featuring 18 large-scale banners the exhibition shows how the United Kingdom, over eight hundred years, has built a powerful system of civil rights and representative government. Created by nine artists, each banner provides a dynamic visual representation of the milestone moments and movements which ‘made a difference’ in the journey to the rights and representation that we enjoy today.
